It will include two each from Police Department, City Council and Planning Commission

The City of Taft is going to appoint a committee to figure out a way to deal with the City's ongoing problems with transients and homeless population.

The City Council is scheduled to form the committee when it meets Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Civic center Council chambers.

Taft Police are going to play a major role in it

Chief of Police Damon McMinn is going to the lead staff member and he will be joined by Sgt. Corey Beilby, who has been working as a liason between the Department and a local collaborative group that is a lot working on the homeless problem.

The ad hoc committee will also include two members of the City Council and two members of the Planning Commission.

Council representatives will be appointed Tuesday, and the Planning Commission will meet Wednesday and appoint its representatives.
