Variety of roles need to be filled. Orientation meeting will be held on Sept. 13

Optimal Hospice Care is seeking volunteers to serve in the outlying areas of Kern County including the Taft area.

Orientation for new volunteers will be held on Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at optimal's Bakersfield office at 1675 Chester Ave. Suite 401.

Optimal is recruiting volunteers for all of its programs.

Some of those roles include:

•Home support volunteers who provide respite to overwhelmed caregivers

•Administrative assistants to provide in office support

•Facility volunteers to provide companionship to patients

•Vet to vet support to assist with peer support for veterans under Optimal's care

•CarePals pet therapy to brighten lives with pets

•Bilingual volunteers

•Karaoke volunteers to perform in facilities

•Seamstress volunteers to make gowns, clothing protectors and pillows for patients

•Bereavement volunteers to support families experiencing grief after the loss of a loved one.
