Man charged with drug trafficking after officers recover 49 grams of meth
Two people were arrested at the end of a short vehicle pursuit early Friday morning, Taft Police said, and one of them faces felony drug trafficking charges after officers located nearly two ounces of suspected methamphetamine
It started just about midnight when an officer tried to make a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 400 block of Lucard for a vehicle code violation.
the vehicle didn't stop immediately, police said, and went to the south alley of the 500 block of San Emidio where the two occupants fled.
Officers said one tossed an object away as he fled.
The object was later recovered and police said it contained about 49.1 grams of suspected methamphetamine
Both occupants were found and arrested.
Michael Leroy Fell was booked for possession of a controlled substance for sale, transporting a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest in a vehicle, resisting arrest and driving on a suspended license.
The other occupant, identified as Gidget Janette Wayne, was arrested for resisting arrest and a misdemeanor warrant.
