Woman tied to steal baby stroller, pushed victim during struggle, police say
A transient was arrested on robbery charges after she tried to steal a baby stroller with personal items in it on Monday.
Taft Police Lt. Pete Aranda said the female victim had left her stroller outside while she went into the Goodwill Store on the 400 block of Finley Drive.
While inside, the victim was told a white female adult was walking away with her stroller.
The victim went out side, Aranda said, and confronted the suspect, later identified as Minnie Mollie Bell Culpepper, a transient who frequents the area.
A "brief struggle ensued," Aranda said, and Culpepper pushed the victim, but she was able to regain control of the stroller.
Police were called, and they found Culpepper, who tried to flee from officers.
She was arrested and charged with attempted robbery and resisting arrest.
