RCIU investigates theft of 55-inch TV, generator, tools

An oilfield thief narrowly escaped arrest, but Kern County Sheriff's investigators did recover two stolen trucks in separate thefts on the Westside.

Here is the latest report from the Kern County Sheriff's rural Crimes investigations Unit:

•On March 19, between 04:45 a.m. and 5:43 a.m., an unknown male suspect stole an oilfield company’s work truck, containing miscellaneous oilfield tools, from an oil lease storage yard located near Hwy 33 and 2nd Street in McKittrick. The truck, a white 2013 Ford F550, was later located by deputies and the suspect was seen fleeing the vehicle, but was not found after a search of the area. The reporting party also notified the Sheriff’s Office that multiple Seatrains had been forced open and ransacked. The stolen vehicle was located and returned to the owner, but had sustained approximately $20,000 in property damages. Contact Stacy with any information regarding this investigation. •Between 1:30 p.m. on March 5 and 4:45 a.m. on March 6, unknown suspects cut the locks to two Seatrains and an office located on an oil lease in the 29000 block of Hwy 33, and stole a 55-inch Samsung TV from the office and a white 2012 Ford F150 XLT crew cab pickup truck.
