Truck was on Gardner Field Road. Taft Police say fatigue may be a factor

Two people were injured early Monday when a pickup overturned on Gardner Field Road near Gas Company Road.

Taft Police Sgt. Cory Beilby said the pair, a husband and wife from Taft, were westbound on Gardner Field at about 7:30 a.m. just west of Gas Company when the truck drifted onto the shoulder and the driver corrected, causing him to lose control.

The truck overturned at least twice, Beilby said.

The truck landed on its side in the middle of the road just east of the Sandy Creek Bridge.
Both victims got out of the vehicle on their own, according to Kern County firefighters.

Their injuries were non-life-threatening, police and firefighters said.

Beilby said the driver told officers he had been driving all night and fatigue may be a factor in the crash.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, Beilby said.
