Partnership aims to bring economic growth and development to Taft

The West Side Recreation & Park District has announced a partnership with the Taft College Foundation.

Rec. District officials said this partnership will provide both the Taft College Foundation and WSRPD an opportunity to work together to bring economic growth and development into the community of Taft.

With the help of Taft College, WSRPD has acquired a multipurpose, portable floor for future events to take place at Aera Gymnasium in the Recreation Center.

Through this partnership, Taft College and WSRPD agreed upon a common goal. The goal is to create an opportunity to provide a large space for hosting community functions that will help foster and support economic growth and stability.

On March 21, The Taft College Foundation, in partnership with the Taft College Foundation Petroleum Partners, held the West Kern Petroleum Summit. The host-site partnership with WSRPD for the West Kern Petroleum Forum welcomed over 400 company leaders and dignitaries from Baker Hughes, Chevron, CRC, Berry Petroleum, Aera Energy and Glasspoint Solar. The topics of discussion shed light on up to date changes and challenges in the oil industry in California and the Nation. Keynote speaker and former Shell President, John Hofmeister, spoke on the Pragmatic Energy Challenges in California and the Nation.

WSRPD would like to thank Taft College and the Taft College Foundation for their partnership.
The newly acquired flooring will allow WSRPD to expand their offerings of recreation activities to the community. Such activities include bounce house days, laser tag, roller skating and more. WSRPD is thankful for their partnership with Taft College and is looking forward to future collaborations.
