Pastor Greg Haslow will be the featured speaker Friday at 7 p.m.

The citizens of Taft and the Westside are invited to join in a community Good Friday Service on April 19 at 7 p.m. at Calvary Temple on Kern Street.

This community time of worship is sponsored by the Westside Christian Ministers' Association.  Greg Haslow, pastor of Calvary Temple, will be the featured speaker as the local pastors rotate this responsibility. The goal is to try to be finished in an hour as people are busy.

Good Friday commemorates the death of the Savior Jesus Christ for the sins of the whole world," said Scott Pearson of the WCMA. "It is "good" only in the sense that we can experience forgiveness and eternal life through God's love and grace.  The Old Testament prophet Isaiah put it this way: "We all like sheep have gone astray, and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all."  Of course Easter Sunday and the Resurrection complete Christians' worship this Holy Week and prove that Jesus was indeed the Son of God sent into our world to redeem humankind.

Everyone is welcome to attend this community Good Friday service as Christians of all churches and denominations come together in unity.
