Stolen truck used to steal transformer in another case

Thieves stole thousands of feet of copper wire after cutting down 10 power poles in an oilfield north of Taft last week.

In a separate case, someone used a stolen truck to steal a transformer.

Those are just a couple of numerous thefts on the Westside the Kern County Sheriff's Rural Crimes Investigations unit is seeking the public's help in solving.

Here is the latest report:

•Sometime between 12:01 a.m. April 12 and 7:49 a.m. on April 13 unknown suspects cut down 10 wooden power line poles and stripped 9,000 feet of copper wire from the poles on an oil lease near Highway 119 and Elk Hills Road. •Between April 13 at 5 p.m. hours and April 14 at 8 a.m., unknown suspects stole approximately 50 feet of copper wire from an oil lease located in the 9000 block of Tupman Road. Contact Hudson with any information. Refer to case #2019-00059156.

•Between April 1 at 10 a.m. April 4 at 5:30 p.m., three unknown Hispanic male suspects, occupying a white service truck with a plastic tub in the bed of the pickup and a small gray car, stole 11 batteries and 7 radiators from an orchard located near Hwy 166 and Basic School Road. •Between April 4 at 4 p.m. and April 5 at 6 a.m. unknown suspects, occupying a stolen white 2006 Dodge pickup bearing California plate 8D04158, stole a transformer from an oil lease located at Short Road and Western Mineral Road. The truck was later located in the 400 block of Helen Street. Contact Hudson at 661-392-6091. Refer to case #2019-00053872.

•Sometime between April 4 at 4:30 hours and April 8 at 7:30 a.m., someone stole a black 2011 Brock Star tanker trailer from the area of 25 Hill Road and South Street. The trailer is described as a flat bed, approximately 4 fee by 8 feet with a black frame, two axles, and a large white tank affixed to the flat bed, and bears California license 4LT5116 and VIN #1B9UP0822BB632287. Approximately 1 gallon of fuel from an oil pump was also stolen during this theft. •Between 3 p.m. April 12 and 10 a.m. April 15, unknown suspects stole 3 deep core batteries from an oil lease located near Midway Road and N. Lincoln Street.
