Zelezny impressed after visits to classrooms, CTEC and Oil Tech
Dr. Lynette Zelezny, President of California State University Bakersfield, toured Taft Union High School District classrooms last week.
Among the various classroom lessons observed, Zelezny saw students working on their assignments in an English class at Buena Vista High School, a student presentation in Health Careers, Law Enforcement students practicing their negotiations skills on the simulator at the Career Technical Education Center, and Oil Tech students building models at Taft High.
During the classroom visits, she encouraged both students and staff to connect with the university.
“I am so impressed by the students and staff throughout the district, not to mention the beautiful facilities,” said Zelezny.
After the classroom visits, Dr. Zelezny and officials from Taft College, Taft City School District, Elk Hills School District, and the Taft Union High School District enjoyed a meal prepared and served by students in the TUHS Culinary Program. Guests included Dr. Debra Daniels, Dr. Julie Graves, Nancy Hickernell, and Dr. Rick Esquivel.
