Forty acres burn before it is contained

A brush fire burned 40 acres of grassland near the Buena Vista Golf Course and Buena Vista Estates housing development on Sunday, the Kern County Fire Department said.
The fire was reported about noon in the hills northeast of the golf course.

It was contained by mid afternoon by numerous patrols and engines from the the west side of the county.
No cause was listed, but firefighters said it started near high voltage power lines running through the area.

There were no injuries and no damage, according to the KCFD.
