Officer makes traffic stop on Kia traveling 118 miles per hour on I-5
A Buttonwillow California Highway Patrol officer made a traffic stop on a speeding car that led to the seizure of marijuana concentrate and other items with a potential value of up to $2 million.
It took place Thursday afternoon about 4 p.m. when the officer saw a Kia traveling an estimated 118 miles per hour on northbound I-5 north of Lerdo Highway.
During the stop, the officer found approximately 82 lbs. of marijuana concentrate stored in 5-gallon buckets and 600 1-ml syringes.
Investigators from the Southern Tri-County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force to take over the investigation.
The concentrate could be processed into marijuana oil with a street value of $1.5 to $2 million, the CHP said.
The driver, Muntasir Azad, 28, of Los Angeles, was arrested on drug possession charges.
