Excavator, trailer taken in a third theft investigated by RCIU
Thieves stealing copper wire damaged property in two oil leases in the Taft area in late November.
In addition, Kern County Sheriff's Rural Crimes Investigations Unit detectives are investigating the theft of a trailer and excavator from a rural area east of Maricopa.
Here is the latest report from the RCIU:
•Between 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 22 and 11:38 a.m. on Nov. 25, unknown suspects stole an unknown number of 4-ought copper wire spools from an oil lease located near Elk Hills Road and Highway 119 and caused over $5,000 in property damage and loss. •Between 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 24 and 1:38 p.m. on Nov. 25, suspects damaged four electrical panels on an oil lease near Airport Road and Honolulu Road and stripped an unknown amount of copper wire. Property loss and damage was estimated at over $5,000. Contact Hudson at 661-392-6091with any information. Refer to case #2019-00189592.
•On Nov. 29 at 5 p.m., hours, unknown suspects forced entry to a farm equipment yard in the 1800 block of Basic School Road and stole a black flatbed dual axle trailer and a Caterpillar excavator. The trailer has an equipment number “#348” on the front of the trailer. The excavator is a yellow and black bobcat style excavator.
