Eatery christens spacious new location
Roots Eatery has opened the doors to its spacious new location in the West Kern Junction.
It's a big move from the cramped quarters on Center Street to the roomy structure where Chicken of Oz was located for many years followed by Taft Dining.
The Taft Chamber of Commerce joined owners Mike and Debby Perry and their employees for a ribbon cutting last week.
"It's a pretty amazing thing we've created here," Debbie Perry. "We've worked very hard and I'm very proud. We have some amazing people here."
Roots has grown in size and in staffing, from nine at the old location to a total of 18. Most work three shifts at 1107 Kern Street location, but some will work at the old location on the 400 block of Center which is being turned into a coffee and sweet shop.
Roots is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday (with a special brunch on the menu) and closed on Sunday.
