More and more employees are being laid off because of the coronavirus, and some won't be being getting their jobs back when restrictions are lifted
Some employees at McDonalds in Taft are being laid off permanently.
The Kern County Board of Supervisors was notified that an undisclosed number of workers at the McDonalds in Taft, Shafter and Wasco have been permanently laid off.
McDonalds, like other fast-food restaurants, has been limited to drive-through only.
There are major layoffs in numerous large businesses in the county, and some employees at California Resources, are having their hours reduced.
The company that operates the Reading Cinemas Valley Plaza announced 70 layoffs, most at the theater.
The layoff were announced in compliance with the The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) that requires advance notice of large layoffs.
