Health department reports 67 new cases this weekend
Kern County reported 67 new COVID-19 tests in the past two days, raising the total number of infections in Kern County to 1,015 by Sunday morning. All but 10 involved county residents.
To date, 587 of the people with coronavirus are considered recovered.
Through Saturday, 32 patients were hospitalized, and 380 were isolating at home.
Eight COVID-19 deaths have been reported in the county.
The valley region added three new cases Saturday and Sunday for a total of 115.
the health department reported 75 cases in children 17 and under, 586 in people aged 18 to 49, 238 in people between 50 and 64 and 106 cases in people 65 and over
The highest concentration of cases is in the metro Bakersfield area.
Eastern Bakersfield, including Lamont and Arvin, has 563 cases and western Bakersfield has 285.
There are 23 cases in the mountains and 19 in the deserts.
In addition to the 1,005 county residents who have tested positive, 7,162 tests that have come back negative and 3,820 are pending.
