No new confirmed cases in Taft or the Westside
Kern County Public health reported 26 new COVID-19 cases Sunday for a total of 1,264 cases since the first local case was reported on March 17.
However, 773 people have recovered after a coronavirus diagnosis and 447 are isolating at home.
There were 39 people hospitalized as of Sunday morning, the health department said.
No new cases were reported in the Taft area, which has 18 total cases with 9 recoveries. There is one active case in Maricopa. No other cases have been reported on the Westside
Fifteen Kern County resident have died for COVID-19-related causes, the health department said. Seven of the deaths were residents of the Kingston health care Facility in Bakersfield, where 86 residents and staff have tested positive for the virus, Chief Administrative Officer Ryan Alsop said last week.
The health department reported 94 cases among children 17 and under; 714 cases in people aged 18-49; 292 cases among those ages 50-64; and 154 cases in people 65 and older.
