Taft has 12 new cases since Monday, Kern has 216 cases in past day
COVID-19 continues to increase rapidly in the Taft area and all over Kern County.
Friday morning the Kern County Health Department reported a total of 6,205 cases in the county and 77 cases in Taft.
There were 216 new cases in the county since Thursday, the third straight day of 200 or more COVID-19. The health department also reported eight COVID-related death in the past 24 hours, raising the county death toll to 97 from the pandemic.
So far 4,088 of the county COVID-19 cases have retired. Another 1,880 are recovering at home and 138 people are hospitalized.
Taft has seen 12 new cases since Monday.
Fifty of Taft's 77 confirmed COVID-19 cases have recovered.
There is one active case in Maricopa and three recovered cases.
