Triple-digit heat and bad air in the forecast for the Labor Day weekend

Get ready for a Labor Day weekend heatwave.

Another round of triple digit heat is in store for the Westside just in time for the Labor Day weekend.

the National Weather Service issued an excessive heat watch tht will be in effect from noon Friday through at least Labor Day evening for "dangerously hot conditions."

"Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities," the National Weather Service cautioned.

For the Taft area, the heat will really come back on Saturday after a couple more days in the upper 90s.

THe NWS said Saturday in Taft we will see a high of 103, followed by105 on Sunday and 103 on Monday.

Overnight lows won't be very cool, either with the temperature dipping into the 80s around dawn each day.

As if the heat wasn't enough, the air quality s going to be bad as well.

The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District has issued an Air Quality Alert as because of the smoke smoke impacts from the SQF Complex and other surrounding wildfires for Tulare

County and the valley portion of Kern County.

This Air Quality Alert will remain in effect until the fires are extinguished, the weather service said.
