Thieves cut down two power poles to steal 600 feet of wire

Two more cases of theft and vandalism are being investigated by the Kern County Sheriff's Rural Crimes Investigations Unit.

Here is the latest report:

On Sept. 22 between 12:55 p.m. and 1 p.m. hours, unknown suspects cut down two unenergized power poles on an oil lease near Elk Hills Road and Reserve Road and stole 600 feet of bare copper wire.

Between 6 p.m. on Sept. 27 and at 6 p.m. hours and 6 a.m. on Sept. 28 unknown suspects vandalized an oil rig located near Lincoln Street and Midway Road after cutting several lines and draining 80 gallons of diesel fuel from the fuel tank.
