Defendant arrested after truck hits spike strip
The man arrested in Seprtember ofter a high-speed pursuit involving California Highway Patrol officers from Santa Maria and Buttonwillow was sentenced two a two-year state prison term.
Alejandro Morales Jr., 24, of Selma, was ordered to report to Wasco State Prison at his sentencing Wednesday in Kern County Superior Court.
Morales, who originally faced four felony and two misdemeanor counts, entered a no contest plea to one felony count of recklessly evading police on Oct. 1.
He was arrested on Sept. 11 after his vehicle struck a spike strip as he was speeding eastbound on Highway 166 and passed the Kern-San Luis Obispo County line. His vehicle continued for a short distance before going off the roadway near Soda Lake Road.
CHP officers said Morales was driving a stolen pickup at the time.
