Male driver critically injured, police said
A woman was killed and a man critically injured in a motorcycle accident in Taft late Saturday.
Taft Police Sgt. Corey Beilby said the accident took place in front of the 7-11 store on the 1100 block of Sixth Street about 11:50 p.m.
He said a group of motorcyclists were riding north on Sixth when one left the roadway and struck a curb.
The male driver and his female passenger were both ejected, Beilby said.
The passenger, a 27-year-old Taft woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 22-year-old Taft man, was airlifted to a Bakersfield hospital for treatment.
Their names are not being released at this point.
The accident is still under investigation but speed and alcohol are possible factors, Beilby said.
