On February 24,2019 we lost our beloved mother, grandmother, sister,aunt and friend.
Mary Jo was born February 17,1932 in Springfield Missouri to Fred and Alice Colson. Mary Jo, the youngest of seven children, moved to Taft at three years old with her family. Mary’s favorite games to play with her sisters were jax and Mumbly Peg. Her specialty at Taft Schools were drum core and choir.
Mary married Bill Sullivan in 1947.
They had two sons, Robert and Laurence (deceased). The family was always busy with boy scouts and little league. The family also had many camping trips to the Baja coast.
Later Mary lived in Palmdale and owned a mini market. She also enjoyed racing mules in Bishop CA. Mary lived in Africa for two years and later moved to Morro Bay and owned an icehouse.
Mary married James Flournoy in 1987 and lived in Pittsburg Texas. Mary was president of the American Legion two terms and member of the Women’s Auxillary. Mary spent hours
on the phone laughing and talking with her sisters.
Mary is survived by her loving son, Robert, grand children Bradley Sullivan and Katelyn Sullivan, and sisters Roxie Kinsman and Wanda Steury. Also survived by numerous friends,Louis Collier Jr. , and nieces and nephews.
Mary is preceded in death by her brothers,Robert, Eugene,Jack, Darrell and son Larry.
Also preceded by husbands, Gayle Jones and James Flournoy.
The family is grateful to Louis Collier Jr. and the staff of Reunion Plaza for their loving care There will be a gathering of friends and family this summer to remember Mary. She hold a special place in our hearts.
