Narvel was the 2nd of 3 boys born in Lompoc, Ca. to Lois and Narvel Howell. He departed this earth from San Luis Obispo, Ca. Narvel attended schools in Lompoc, graduating from Lompoc High School in 1961where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He continued his education at Allan Hancock Community College and Ventura Junior College, During this time, he wanted to "take care of his military obligation" and joined the Army. He served two years in the Army and during the years of 1968-69, was serving his country in the 9th Infantry Division in Vietnam.
Upon returning stateside, Narvel moved to Taft, Ca and started working on the aqueduct. He also attended Taft Community College. It was during this time that he met his wife Mary Lu. They married in 1970 and enjoyed many adventures together during their 26 years of marriage. Narvel spent 22 years working for Johnny Cat before retiring.
Years after the death of Narvel's beloved wife Mary Lu, Narvel reconnected with his high school sweetheart Linda Richardson and they moved to Shell Beach, Ca. to enjoy the beach weather and be closer to family.
Narvel is preceded in death by his father Narvel, mother Lois, wife Mary Lu, son Douglas Farris, nephew Timothy Howell, niece Corey Howell, brother Gary, and his significant other Linda Richardson. He is survived by his daughter Tracye McPherson, grandson Blake McPherson, brother Jimmie Howell (Kathy Howell), sister-in-law Gloria Howell, nephews Shawn Howell (Shelly Howell), Erik Howell (Don Stewart) along with numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and also many Howell and Usrey cousins.
A gathering of family and friends will be held in remembrance of Narvel on October
2, 2019 at 10:30 am at the Bakersfield National Cemetery 30338 East Bear Mountain Blvd., Arvin, Ca. 93420. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting a contribution to your local Veterans group.
