5/28/1953 – 9/29/2019

On September 29, 2019, we lost Our Beloved Tim. Born in Taft, he attended Midway School and Taft City Schools. He was a talented athlete and distinguished Boy Scout earning School Letters in football, basketball and baseball as well as attaining Brotherhood Status in Order of the Arrow, an elite division of Boy Scouts. He transferred to Cuyama Valley High School where he graduated, earning football and baseball scholarships to Hancock College in Santa Maria, as well as a Bank of America Scholarship in Agriculture. Tim married the love of his life Val, after graduating high school. Tim and Val were married over 48 years and raised two sons, Zak and Tony.

Tim was selfless, volunteering countless hours to Community Service through Lions International, Taft Motorcycle Club, Honolulu Hills Raceway and Franklin Field Arena. Through Lions International, he held numerous offices including President, Zone Chairman and Region Chairman, earning the Governor’s Medal twice along with an Excellence in Leadership Medal.

Tim was a fifth generation mason and third generation oil field worker. Tim worked for 48 years in the oil and gas industry, from a derrick hand, to owning and operating his own business to his most recent role as Maintenance Supervisor for Jerry Melton and Sons Construction. Tim acquired numerous skills, from concrete and masonry, to oilfield construction, motorcycle and car mechanics; there was not one thing that Tim couldn’t do. In fact, you could equate his skills to that of any master builder, owning the ability to design and build anything.

Reading and learning were among Tim’s favorite pastimes. Other hobbies he enjoyed included motorcycle riding and racing, which he began at age 11, camping, deep sea fishing, gardening and rock collecting.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Charlie Crabb; sister, Becky and nephew, Chad Jackson. He is survived by his wife, Val; sons, Zak (Andrea) and Tony; grandchildren, Kyle and Kimber; sisters, Carol Jackson (Dale), Ann Ray; brother in-laws, Ray Swan (Terri), and Brent Beeler (Mary); many nieces, nephews , Marcy and Mel Simmons and a great many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11AM at the Historic Fort in Taft, CA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tim’s name to the Taft Midway Sunset Foundation.
