Beloved Husband, Father, Son

It is with sadness that the family of Andrew Greene announces his recent passing after a three year illness. Andrew grew up in Taft and always had warm memories of his home town. He died in mid-January at his home in the Los Angeles area where he had lived and worked in the accounting business since leaving Taft to pursue higher education and a career as a CPA.

Andrew is the son of former longtime Taft residents and educators, Donald and Georgann Greene, who now live in Washington. Andrew died two and a half years after his older brother, Benjamin, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in Bakersfield. Andrew was a speaker at Benjamin's funeral.

Andrew was born in 1970 in Hollywood and came to Taft four years later when his father began working as a middle school principal. A spelling bee champion in elementary school, Andrew was an honor student at Taft High where he graduated as the class salutatorian. During his high school years, he was active in a foreign student exchange program that allowed him to spend a summer in Argentina. He attended Taft College before earning a Bachelor's degree in Economics from UC Santa Cruz and Master's degrees in Accounting and Taxation from USC. After working for Ernst & Young accounting firm and a number of banks, he became an independent contractor managing his own business specializing as a bank field examiner.

Survivors include his parents, wife, Patricia, and son, Gavin. He was predeceased by his grandparents, his infant sister, Kimberly, as well as his brother, Benjamin. Friday Harbor, Washington, is Andrew's final resting place.
