Robyn Whiting obituary

Robin Lynn Whiting was born January 14, 1951 in Sacramento, CA. to John & Dorothy Etheridge.  Robin passed away on February 3rd, 2021 after complications dealing with Cushings Syndrome.  She had just turned 70.  Robins father worked as a foreman for Granite Construction on the Oroville Dam project and the construction of Interstate 5 in northern California.  As a result Robin moved many times as a child having lived in Brookings Oregon, Sacramento, Citrus Heights, Pollock Pines, Loma Linda, and Bakersfield.  Robin was a devoted Seventh-Day Adventist and attended Pacific Union College to be a Registered Nurse.  

Robin worked as a nurse at Glendale Adventist Hospital, then Loma Linda Adventist Hospital.  When her parents retired in Bakersfield, she transferred to Kern Medical Center and worked in Post Anesthesia recovery.  There she met her future husband Ed and together for the next 30 years they raised their children Melissa and John.  Robin and Ed loved to travel and explore having taken a cruise to Alaska and driven across the United States.   Robin loved living in Taft because of the people and small town atmosphere. 

Robin was proceeded in death by her parents John and Dorothy Etheridge, her grand mother Esther Koch, her brother Jerry Etheridge, and her sister Linda Bauman.  She is survived by her sister Marlene Scharf and her husband Jim of West Allis Wisconsin, her brother Tom Etheridge of Sunland Florida, her brother Carlton Neely and his wife Carole of Chattanooga Tennessee, husband Ed Whiting of Taft, daughter Melissa and her husband Robert Knight of Bakersfield, son John and his wife Shelby Whiting of Bakersfield, her new grand son Theodore, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and previous coworkers.  

A Celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am, February 21, 2021 at the Hillcrest Seventh-Day adventist Church located at 2600 Kenwood Drive, Bakersfield, CA. 93306.  Dress is casual, just be comfortable.
