Beverly Matthews obituary

Beverly Matthews age 79, passed away January 19th, 2021 in Santa Paula Hospital.

She was born in Taft, California to Calvin and Bernice Mason.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents and her husband B.J. Matthews.

Beverly loved to make gifts for people she loved. She made her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren many beautiful quilts, crotched blankets, slippers and sweaters.

For 20 + years Beverly worked at Taft Sporting Goods in Taft. She loved her job and the Killingsworth family who owned the business. Beverly helped many Taft residents with their different sporting goods needs including the Taft schools’ sports teams. She was a big supporter of the little league and girls’ softball which her children participated. You could often find her score keeping for her children’s teams.

Beverly moved to Keene, Illinois with BJ. She lived there for 15 years. After BJ passed away Beverly began occupying herself by taking care of seniors in her community. She made many friends there.

She moved to back to California to be near her children and grandchildren. She lived with her daughter and son-in-law Keelie and David Buck.

Beverly is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Judy and Gerald Hudson, niece Chere’ Yingst, her brother and sister-in law Cal and Sue Mason, her daughter and son-in-law Keelie and David Buck and their children Amanda Weatherly, Joey Fielding, her son and daughter-in-law Buddy and Teresa Binkley and their children and spouses Brent and Keisha Binkley, Johnathan Binkley, Ray and Mandie Statler, Neil and Lyndsey Statler and her youngest son Kelly Binkley his children and their spouses Garrett, Avery and Darian Binkley and Michael Alonso.

Beverly had 10 great grandchildren Cole and Chloe Warner, Cash Weatherly, Tegan, Toryn and Tia Binkley, Addison Alonso, Cassidy, Presley and Wyatt Statler.

The family is having a private service due to COVID 19 rules.
