Charles Raymond (Ray) Moore passed away at the age of 81 ½ in Gardnerville Nevada. He was born and raised in Bakersfield CA. He attended Bakersfield High School and graduated from Arizona State University with a BS Degree in Medical Technology in 1966. He served 4 years in the Army National Guard. Upon returning to Bakersfield, he interned at Mercy Hospital. While at Mercy, he met Sarah Joanne Flickinger. They married in 1966 and moved to Taft, CA to work as a Medical Technologist until 1984.
His passion was always photography, and he started a side business TLC Photo/Images in 1978. This passion led to teaching opportunities at Taft College, and eventually a career change in 1987 as a Photography Instructor with the Westside Regional Occupational Program, where he taught and retired in 2006.
He and Joanne moved to Gardnerville, NV in 2006, building a new life and home. He enjoyed square-dancing, hiking, traveling, church, gardening and golf. Ray continued his photography business, working with local Parks and Recreation programs and church organizations. He volunteered for Young at Heart, In Jesus Name, and Silver Oaks Senior Men’s Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Joanne Moore, children Adrienne (Chaney) and Jennifer (Whisnant); grandchildren, Samantha and Zachary (Chaney) and Jake and Taylor-Nichole (Whisnant). In Bakersfield, CA his sisters, Pat (Waltman), Mary (Terry), Shirley (Walls) and brother-in-law and his wife Willis and Joan Flickinger.
Ray’s love and generosity for his family, friends and community will always be cherished and remembered.
