Two people were transported to Bakersfield hospital for injuries suffered in a two-vehicle traffic accident in Taft Thursday evening.

Both victims suffered minor to moderate injuries. Several others suffered minor injuries but declined medical transport.

The crash took place at First and Kern just before 8 p.m.

Taft Police Sgt. Ray Buford said a Chevrolet SUV was eastbound on Kern entering the intersection when a car going north on First pulled out in front of the SUV and was struck on the driver's side.

The woman driving the SUV and two children were not seriously injured.

There were four people in the car and two of them, a man and woman both aged 26, were taken by Hall Ambulance for treatment of their injuries.

The intersection was blocked for more than an hour for the investigation and cleanup.
