Woman injured when car, truck collide on Highway 33

Firefighters work to free woman from car that collided with truck on Highway 33 at Cadet Road

A woman was seriously injured when a tractor-trailer and sedan collided on Highway 33 at Cadet Road Wednesday morning.

The victim was trapped in her crushed Hyundai Elantra for about 25 minutes before she was freed by Kern County firefighters who pried open doors and cut the roof off her vehicle.

The car impacted the 53-foot trailer just in front of the rear wheels.

Details of how the crash occurred were not immediately available. Taft Police are investigating.

The driver of the truck apparently escaped injury.

The crash was reported at 11:30 a.m. and the roadway was closed for two hours while tow trucks removed the vehicles
