COVID-19 cases rise rapidly in Kern County
Five new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the Taft-Maricopa area as Kern County's coronavirus case totals continue to increase at a rapid rate.
The Kern County Health Department reported 145 new cases in the past 24 hours and three more deaths, increasing the total count to 5,769 cases and 87 deaths.
Hospitalizations are rising rapidly as well. The most recent data from the health department shows 216 COVID-19 patients in the hospital with 1,658 people with active COVID-9 cases isolating at home.
A day earlier there were 125 people in the hospital.
Locally, four new cases were reported in the Taft area and one new cases was reported in Maricopa.
Taft now has 69 total cases with 47 recoveries. Maricopa now has four total cases with three recoveries.
