Kern County COVID-19 death toll passes 200
Kern County's death toll from the coronavirus pandemic surpassed 200 Friday.
The Kern County Health Department reported 17 new deaths, raising the total to 204 lives lost since the pandemic hit here on March 16.
The county also reported 389 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total to 25,888.
Taft's added two new cases Friday, increasing the total in the 93268 zip code to 374 with 82 recovered and 292 active cases.
The Maricopa area added one more case and now has 16 total cases with four recoveries.
No new cases were reported on the Westside.
Overall, Kern County now has 25,888 total cases with 8,105 recoveries, 17,334 active cases recovering at home and 248 people hospitalized.
