Taft adds more than 100 new Covid-19 cases in a week
More than 100 new Covid-19 cases have been reported in the Taft area in the past week.
Tuesday morning, the Kern County Health Department reported 1,378 total cases in the 93268 zip code, up from 1,233 a week ago.
About one third of those cases, 495, have recovered.
Maricopa, too, has seen a large increase. The health department reported 78 cases Tuesday, an increase of 11 in the past week. There are 36 recoveries in the area. The Fellows-Derby acres area has 26 total cases with six recoveries and McKittrick has 18 cases and six recoveries.
Overall, Kern County added 530 new cases Tuesday for a total of 86,718 with 565 fatalities.
On Monday, California became the first state to pass 30 million total COVID-19 cases and Tuesday the United State death toll from the virus went over 400,000.
