Firefighters from several agencies are responding to a brush fire burning in the mountains west of New Cuyama.

Cal Fire San Luis Obispo and the Santa Barbara County Fire Department are reporting that three to five acres were burning at a moderate rate of spread just before 5 p.m.

The fire was located east of Rock Front Ranch, Cal Fire said.

The area is under a red flag warning and winds were reported gusting as high as 25 miles per hour with relative humidity ranging from 15 to 20 percent, the National Weather Service said.

Cal Fire, firefighters from the Los Padres National Forest Service and a large response from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department are responding.

Four helicopters and three air tankers have also been requested.
