California Valley brush fire 80 percent contained
The brush fire that broke out in California Valley is nearly completely under control.
Cal Fire said the fire had blackened 1,672 acres by 10 a.m.Thursday but was 80 percent contained.
San Luis Obispo television station KEYT/KCOY reported that Cal Fire confirmed that several outbuildings were burned but the two large solar facilities in the area were not damaged.
The fire started about 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon along Highway 58 near Soda Lake Road. Fore a time, the smoke from the fire was visible in Taft.
The fire was accidental and started after a trailer being towed on Highway 58 lost a tire, Cal Fire told KEYT/KCOY.
