The Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) is currently offering a new program called Food2Door.

Food2Door is a FREE program for Kern County seniors 65 and older that provides 70 lbs. food boxes delivered monthly and directly to the front door.

It's a program that is not being utilized by seniors in western Kern County

"Unfortunately, our enrollment numbers are way lower than expected in the Taft Region," said Assistant Project Coordinator Jonathan Gallardo. "In the communities of Taft, Fellows, Tupman, Maricopa and Buttonwillow we only have a total of 49 seniors enrolled in the program. We believe this is due to the lack of awareness from the community."

Signing up is easy. Just call 661-498-7831 ext. 1310 or email to enroll.

Gallardo said he's reaching out to let the seniors in the area know waht is available for free.

He said he is hoping to double or triple the number of people using the program.
